Where is Kaden? Can you believe all this for one baby?
We got to "touch him softly" this morning :)
Daddy is VERY NERVOUS about moving any of his tubes...
I just want to give a quick update since we saw Kaden this morning. He is really retaining fluid from the ECMO, and he was peeing (the pee-pee prayers are working), but they cannot tell anything about his lungs since he has so much fluid build up. The doctors said that this is a very common occurance, but at this point his lungs are collapsed because of all the fluid and in order to see what air sacs he has developed, they have to get the fluid levels down. He looks like the Michilan Tire Man, but he is still so beautiful. Please pray specifically that his lungs start to respond to the fluid removal and that it will allow ECMO to do it's job. We will update again when we know more.
Here is Daddy with Kaden this morning. All of you who know Craig, knows that he is the "king of jingles". He sings "Kaden Kuehl is Kung-Fu-Fighting" to him and it does make me giggle--I think Kaden likes it too since he has heard it over the last 9 mos:)
Swelling is normal! Carter was so puffy on ECMO that his ears were swollen shut and he had these huge fishy lips. I love the picture of his little fingers. It's amazing how many machines it takes, but as he gets better, one by one, they will disappear.
ReplyDeletePrayers, as always!
Kellie
Sending many, many prayers up for his lungs and reduced swelling! As Kellie said, swelling is so normal, especially since it's been a couple of days since he was put on ECMO. It'll go down soon and the nurses can begin Xraying his lungs. Great news he's still pee-peeing.
ReplyDeleteLove the 'lil finger picture. Kaden's so precious!!!
Love and prayers,

Lung Function prayers coming your way, Kaden!
ReplyDeleteHang in there little guy!
Love and prayers,
Sheryl
Love the pictures. Alina wasn't on ECMO (they don't use it here)but she was totally swollen from all the fluids, so don't worry, it's normal. It's great that he is pee-ing, it shows that his system is working well. We are praying for Kaden that his lungs continue to grow stronger!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
Ingrid, Alex & Alina
Sending those lung function prayers!!!!! C'mon Kung Fu Kaden. You can do this!!!!!!

Brooke and Kamryn's mommy
i'll be praying for his little lungs! dh and i are praying so hard for you guys right now. i hope that you get to witness some miracles very soon!
ReplyDeleteI will pray for him to continue to pee and for his lungs to reinflate. I remember the same thing with Addison. ECMO gives them the rest that is necessary for them to get well, but a side effect is fluid build up which negatively effects the lungs. Much love and prayers coming your way from Atlanta!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for Kaden's lung to grow and for him to get stronger
ReplyDeletePsalm 5:1-3
1 O Lord, hear me as I pray;
pay attention to my groaning.
2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God,
for I pray to no one but you.
3 Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.
Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly
I'll also sing Kaden Kuehl is Kung-Fu-Fighting! That has a nice ring.
ReplyDeletePraying for him and you guys.

:-) I'm with Lisa.. we can do Kaden Kuehl is Kun-Fu-Fighting chants from Nashville too!!! HEhe... The doctors called Max the michilin man too... but then they called him the amazing shrinking baby... so I will look forward to when Kaden gets to that stage! Kaden is doing awesome and it sounds like you guys are hanging in there too! I know it is hard but we are all here with you (even when we can't be there). Love you all!

Keep fighting Kaden!! Praying hard for your warrior and that you soon see his fluid levels decrease some and you see some lung improvement. Use those kung fu skills Kaden and show them you will be a legendary warrior in this battle!!
ReplyDeleteLove to you, Tracy - Ian's mom
Praying! praying!
ReplyDeletePraying big time for the fluid levels to decrease and the lungs to start improving.... stay strong Kaden!!
ReplyDeleteKaden hasn't left my mind since he was born. I guess I have also become a "stalker" since I'm constantly checking for updates. My prayers for him continue.
ReplyDeleteHaving a CDH survivor baby and understanding so much of what you're feeling , I want Kaden and all CDHers to do as well as my little girl has. I want all these babies to be healthy and to go home where they belong. Give it a little time and Kaden will make it too!!!!
Hugs, love and support
